Which food are helpful for people with thyroid amid lockdown (when we have limited supplies)?

Wanted to understand which foods are helpful for thyroid patients, especially when we are in lockdown.

  • If you have hypothyroidism, you can make some dietary changes and include things that help you manage it effectively. You could include cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, kale, spinach, but well cooked and in moderation.

    Fruits, especially bananas help as they are naturally enriched with iodine. Salted nuts, eggs, dairy, meat are very important as they are rich in zinc and selenium; important minerals for hypothyroidism. Inclusion of proteins eg non vegetarian food, pulses or lentils and dairy is also important.

    Including fruits and vegetables in your diet will help you not gain extra kilos too.
