What is immunity?

Immunity is the state of an organism in which it has adequate defence mechanisms to resist infections, avoid allergies and autoimmune diseases. 

Different kind of immunities?

  • The first kind is the one present in our genetic makeup, our constitution, called native/innate immunity
  • Second, is the adaptive immunity, acquired by a chance exposure to a disease agent or by vaccination.

What is an immune system?

Immune system is a group of cells that defend us against infections. The system keeps a record of all the germs it has defeated so that it can recognise the microbe when it enters the body again. One of the important cells involved are the white blood cells, the WBCs.

Signs that you have low immunity

  • You fall sick frequently.
  • You almost always have a cold/cough.
  • Your stress levels are high.
  • Your digestive system is not healthy.
  • Growth/ developmental delays in children
  • You have an autoimmune disorder.

What is weakening my immunity?

There are various things that can affect your immunity over time. Few of them include:

  • Poor nutrition
  • Stress
  • Smoking
  • Alcohol
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Too much or too little exercise

How can I build my immunity? How can I make my immune system stronger?

Maintaining a strong immunity or building it over time is very much possible. Here are few guidelines that canhelo you with a strong immune system over time: 

  • Maintain good personal hygiene
  • Avoid smoking or alcohol

  • Pay attention to good mental health
